LE FIL ROUGE

A Franco-Chinese project presented by Résonance Contemporaine and le Pavillon Rouge des Arts, and co-produced with Chinese People’s Association For the Friendship with Foreign Countries and Beijing International Culture and Art Corp. Ltd.

LE FIL ROUGE (THE RED THREAD), designed by Kilina Crémona and Alain Goudard, is a French-Chinese musical and choreographic creation featuring both able-bodied and disabled artists. Dance and music combine; disability and capacity unite; the present and the past mingle. All together shattering the invisible barriers between denial and acceptance of self. Created and toured in China in May 2014 and in France in September 2014, this creation had a great success and returned to China again in July 2015.

Drawing its inspiration from the biblical story of Jacob wrestling with an angel, " The Red Thread " is a show in which dance combines with music, disability is linked to being able-bodied, the past and future mesh, and a dialogue takes place between China and France.

The choreography takes its cues from contemporary dance as evidenced by the strength of polarities and encounters between the dancers. Liu Yan, the famous dancer injured and traumatized by a fall during rehearsal for the Olympics, inspired this piece to choreographer Kilina Crémona, who herself became deaf overnight.

The music is interpreted by the Shanghai and Treffort Percussion Ensembles, percussionist Thierry Moriglio, and directed by musician and composer Alain Goudard. The sound interacts with the infinitely small in large acoustic places. The music is created from the dance and the bodies in motion – in movement just as man can be.

Event organised as part of the programme France-Chine 50, with the support of France-Chine 50, Chinese People Association for the Friendship with Foreign Countries, the French Institut, the French Embassy in China, Festival Croisements, Rhône-Alpes region, DRAC Rhône-Alpes, Consulate General of France in Guangdong, Ensemble des Percussions du Conservatoire de Shanghai, ADAPEI, Université Lumière Lyon 2, Opéra de Lyon,  Smedoca, Sofinco, Faguowenhua and House News.
